I want to hold life’s tensions
in the palm of my hand,
acknowledge the joys
and the sorrows,
cry with those feeling broken,
and at the right time, remind them
‘heaven is yours’.
How those packed tears
pearl down,
collaborating with my prayers
about the pains of life.
In its wake, hands lift upwards and stretch as far as the body allows,
granting fingertips to graze the space above,
receiving love
to ensure my heart remains supple,
uncalloused.
Darkness is not my dictator.
Because, I want to be a brave person,
seeing life through clear eyes,
unconfused by my being here
or your being here
or their being here.
Love
cheers me on, outrageously triumphant
and coos over my weary mind
whispering in my ear, convincing my body to
be swayed to it, luxuriated by it
- a compelling idea
backed up with much evidence,
indisputable.
